Question about flatbed trailers with the rear axle all the way in the back

    It doesn't put weight on the truck. The farther back you go. The more weight is added to the trailer.

    Here's a wrench in the idea.
    Drives weight somewhere around 18k. Probably less with a flatbed. The trailer axles weigh around 10k.

    So that's basically 16k ish you can load on the drives. Up to 30 ish on the trailer.

    Those are rough numbers. Not exact.

    Alot easier to scale legal loads from 48000 to 52000 depending on the power unit with a spread axle.

    They ride alot better with the weight, and with the right combination of lift and dump axles the trailer will turn on a dime.

    I'd love to buy a older stainless 48 spread van but not sure how hard it would be to keep it loaded.
