Yeah, and we deliver pipe to perry equipment. Just take your time and listen and pay attention to what they tell you in orientation. Why do you want OTR if you have a stable gig at home? I take it you flatbed if you go to nucor? I have left local gigs to go back OTR, so I am not putting you down. Just curious.

Also, on top of the road test, the physical part of the testing, lifting tarps, climbing on the trailer, etc.. After all I am 47 and a big guy, just a little nervous about all of Mavericks requirements. I do appreciate all of the info on this Forum especially about Maverick. Thanks

I don't know Notarps, I make around $ 14.00 / hr driving a 2006 Mack Tri-Axle hauling scrap metal in and out of Nucor daily. I hope this isn't a mistake I just want something different, but I don't want to sacrifice all my hometime because of family, thats why I am so interested in Maverick getting to have weekends at home..

When I am running decent I take home 800-1200 per week with most weekends home. I have some weeks where it is 600. I have had a lot of stupid things happen and that happens when you truck. You got to figure tho that I work 70 hours a week. So take that into consideration when you do the math. I like going out and after I run a few days it is time to look for the load home. So it is not that bad for being OTR and being home as well. It is hard to get the road out of your system. If I were to take another local I would not be long and I would be wanting to go back out again.

Had the shipper not held me up this last load I would have been in thursday with a mon del. I got in friday, but had a problem at home so mav sent me an empty trailer. I will go back out when I am ready to roll. It will vary. Sometimes I am in for 34 hours, sometimes it is for a few days. Avg would be in friday night roll out sun afternoon. I do that so I can sleep 10 hours and then unload with 11 hours available to roll mon. Some guys leave out sun night and when they unload on monday they only have a few hours left to drive on mon.

Hey Notarps, I have been reading the Horror stories that Daytona has had, you hear anything about his adventures with Maverick lately? Also what is with this "Agility" test for Maverick, sit ups, jumping up on a 5 foot box, is all this true?

No, daytona is good about turning up things that tend to bite him.:biggrin_2556::biggrin_25523: I did have a spell awhile back when I had a black cloud that was chasing me and eveything seemed to go wrong for me. It had nothing to do with maverick tho. Sometimes in trucking things just go wrong. I have never had a flat at all (with maverick). Truck or trailer. I think daytona has had 3 or 4. There is an agility test. They check your range of motion, balance and your strength. There is a climbing test as well. You have to be able to get on top of the load. Flatbedding takes ability and a lot of thinking. You have to figure out how to secure your load and be up to the task of the challenge of the physical side of doing it. They just want to make sure that you can perform the steps to secure and tarp.

I understand about the physical side of flatbedding, but he mentioned something in one of his posts about having to jump up on a 5 foot tall box on top of a trailer, that is pretty high and I am 6'3"
