Without a doubt, NY traffic is bad. When I used to travel south bound, I'd listen to either 880AM or 1010 AM. on 880 you get 24 hours traffic information "on the 8's", meaning every 8 minutes.

    On 1010, well......every 10 minutes.

So when I'd hear of a problem on the Cross Bronx, I'd take the exit for I-287, and that maybe at best, would add about 20-30 minutes to the drive time, depending on that was running.

Otherwise, NY traffic is no worse then Chicago as on the Dan Ryan Expressway, or I-93 thru Boston, or any place else. Timing has (to me) a lot to do with it.

Like with the Tip O'Neil tunnel. They shut down lanes at 11 PM. For the grace of God, I beg the warehouse to get me out of there so I can get to my stops, then blow out Boston. Once I hit the Zagan I am clear for the night.

    yeah, Zakim...

I just cross the dam thing, names mean not much, as long as i can somehow cross over and not fall over, and thankfully I did not cross it that day when the huge flag fell down in the high winds. what a bunch of massholes to hang up a flag like that, and have no fore thought of any high winds.

Or those times when you kindly decide to take me with you to hyde park and not tell me about the buses who cut people off doing 60. He tried to use me as a meat shield and my first time driving to Boston following him and he almost killed me.

Not this past winter of a few weeks ago, but 1 year ago when we had a lot of snow, as I'd be approaching the Tip O'Neil, I'd be setting off the height warning signs, due to of course, snow just high enough to break the beams. Oh yeah, me stop..???

No one chased me, they have cameras, well if they weren't covered in snow as I passed them..!!

This past winter, my company had someone come over, heck I think they set up camp and stayed there, to remove the snows.
