I'm not certain yet. I am still in the research phase, and I am trying to decide on used vs. new. I have at least contacted dealerships to inquire about financing, and I have a fairly good idea what I may be dealing with as far as that is concerned.

I won't pull the trigger until late January or February at the earliest unless I find a deal I can't just pass up, which is doubtful. One of the reasons I posted the thread is that I wasn't sure how much room for negotiation there typically is when purchasing a commercial truck. I have negotiated fairly well when purchasing farm equipment, personal vehicles and real estate. However, I just don't have a feel for what is realistic when it comes to haggling over a new or used commercial truck. This is new territory for me so I am trying to learn as much as I can.

trucks work different than cars. I believe (but I may be wrong) you can buy from the manufacturer, unlike cars that you have to buy from a dealer. If Werner or J.B. Hunt buys 500 trucks, I believe they purchase them from the manufacturer and are "delivered" thru the local dealer and the dealer gets a fee per truck. Now, Joe Schmoe, on the other hand who wants to buy one truck, can simply go to a dealer and negotiate a deal. Supply and demand, right ?
