Sometime it just takes a little patients. Glad things are beginning to come together for you...

I have been following this thread because I am in the research stages of becoming a driver and looking into what company would be best to be trained by in the Phoenix area. (I live in Salome) Actually I would rather go to school at Sage in Kingman Arizona. My kids live in Kingman so I could stay with one of them while going to school. I would hope I would qualify for some sort of grant because I am "under employed" and our household income is below poverty level . With no kids living at home, and not being a vet and not unemployed I don't qualify for grant money for schooling also my credit sucks so can't get a loan....
Sooo I will probably have to find a company that will train me...

I was told that Knight is about the best for getting you home when you need it and good about getting a woman student a woman trainer.

If any of you Knight Drivers plan to be stopping at "ZIPS" truck stop (exit 45 on I-10) and have time to #### chat I'll buy you a coffee if you let me pick your brain.. ((Especially any woman drivers that drive for Knight)) ...
(Zips is only 25 minutes from where I live) Only problem is I could only get over there on a weekend day (or evening). I would really like to know more about working for Knight and especially about their training program in PX if anyone knows :)
** PM me for my # if you might be passing through on a weekend and would be willing to let me pick your brain :)

We where in a similar situation financially. We made it work by her going to Central Refrigerated to do her training. Since she left after training we owe them $3k, which is what we would have paid for her to go through school anyway. Only reason she/we didn't stay at CRS is they didn't hire me. Meh, the more I found out about them the more I knew they did us a favor.

Congrats! Good luck to both of you in your new company.

I get to change my status tomorrow when I start at Nevada Truck Driving School for my CDL! And I have a pre-hire letter with Roehl Transport...

Well no official word on the wife's training today. Delivered in Santa Maria then headed over to Rialto to pick up another load. Now I'm setting in fontana waiting till midnight so I have enough hours to drive to tulare to finally get some hometime.

My health failed me. I had put on a considerable amount of weight since I became a driver and had a poor diet. It finally caught up with me. I took a little over a year off, went to school, got back into some sort of shape besides round and started eating right. Lost about 100lbs in the last year.

Like I posted somewhere else on this site earlier in the week, if driving new, well maintained equipment and running a lot of miles is your primary concern then look know further then Pride. If hometime has some importance to you then you may want to consider other options.

Well I was out 19 days and ran 7k miles. Also got over 200 bucks in local pay. All in all not bad. Nice to have some money in the old wallet for a change. Going back out first thing on Friday.

It seems that they are having the same debate over letting me train my wife that they had over whether she would have to do solo driving as part of her training. Our division manager made me feel good with his strong expression of confidence in me yesterday. He better be carefull, he keeps that up I might develop a sense of loyalty and then they won't be able to get rid of me.

Rizen.... Sorry to hear your health failed you. Congrats on losing a 100 lbs. That is an awesome achievement and I am sure you feel a hell of a lot better. I am sure the wife like it too ... ;-)

Well, Just so you know... I am considering Knight or Prime Inc. I am leaning toward Prime Inc. Does anywone have any imput about Prime Inc? After I get out of training should I just be a company or driver or should I lease? I have heard a lot of horor stories about leasing in general...? I guess the question is, can I make more money leasing? I am sure I will just do the first year as a company driver.

Okay Mr. Rizen... again congrats on the weight loss. Sounds like you are doing well. Knight has given you 1900 miles in 4 days. Pretty good. I am reading here that some guys are barely getting 1,000 miles a week. Okay... be safe.. TTYL...
