    Why is that? I have few friend that work for them…I know first year was hardest on them but it got better.

    Trucks? Start times? Going to multiple terminals? Wait times? I heard it all. lol

    same with yellow. if you have good seniority and a good bid, sure it's an amazing company. if you're new though it absolutely sucks. you'll be on the extra board at the bottom of the list. you won't be making good money for awhile.

    This is more of a "feeling #####y" than a rant but man, when I got into linehaul, I didn't realize I'd be at war with sleep. One night, 8 pm start. Then 2 am, then midnight. Having a rough time adjusting to the unpredictability. Not getting enough sleep, dozing off in the truck more than I ever did working days. I know, I know, everyone has to pay their dues but #### this sucks.

    I started this thread over 9 years ago. For me that is three jobs, two States, two houses, and two marriages ago.

    We've had a lot of cordial discussions/debates on here and people learned a lot from them (I know I did). If we could keep this streak going without getting this thread deleted, that would be super great.

    20 years ago next month I went to work for Buster Brown leaving a very consistent early mornings job start time for a schedule very similar to yours for several years. My schedule got better in a few years and my body gradually got used to sleeping when I could. The first month or so I thought the job would kill me at 36 years old. I was completely exhausted at home when I got ready for bed but couldn’t get to sleep at 9,10 or 11 in the morning. Best I could do was nap which wasn’t enough. Also getting called back to work in 8 hours routinely didn’t help. Finally got my bedroom completely dark with room darkening blinds, regular blinds and curtains on top of it all to keep light from coming around the blinds. A window unit during the summer and box fan in the winter strictly for noise as the house had central heat and air. Took the phone out of the bedroom and put a sign on the doorbell for delivery drivers to please not ring it. I also took 2-30 minute naps late in my day at work. I did it 10 years and finally gave up the job for greener pastures working day work. Side note I haven’t taken a nap in my rig because I was too sleepy to drive in 10 years. I never was completely rested on night work but I was eventually rested enough to be safe behind the wheel my entire shift. If your company is safety oriented do not accept work on the days you haven’t slept, but make it clear to them why you can’t safely work that shift. I think companies should have half the board on call 12 hours and the other half 12 hours, but we all know that will never happen. Good luck!
