I haven’t seen any evidence of big drops around here either so I’m going to have to call that fake news for the moment. Will be curious for the EIA report tomorrow though as I always am lately.

Never been east of Alberta, unless it was on a jet, landing in Ontario, while I switch flights, heading to distant lands, across the Atlantic ocean. I've been further east in the USA and Mexico, just not in Canada. Should I ever need to drive across Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario, please God let it be in a car that does 1900 kms/hr and me the only vehicle on the hwy.

I’m surprised there isn’t normal American style truckstops at least along route 1 in Canada. I’ve never been up there. I don’t believe Mexico has them either.

There are some, just not a lot. The entire province of BC has only about 26 or 27. Having tried several, most are Craptastic. Although a couple Husky truck stops, and a couple Petro Canada ones are pretty good. Usually if I need to go to a restaurant, I find a non truck stop restaurant to eat at. As for fueling up, I prefer a stand alone card lock, than any truck stop. Half the time I am the only truck their fueling, the other half of the time its usually just another truck or two. Its like a traffic jam if there are more than 4 of us. In extreme cases 6 or 7 trucks are there, this is when I drive on by, and fuel elsewhere.
Of the truck stops we do have, the Js are the bottom of the barrel in every way, and don't even have cheap fuel. To draw people in, they should be 20% cheaper than anywhere else, but aren't, often the most expensive fuel around, and usually the opposite of busy. Small towns often have good deals on fuel, especially when on Native Indian land.
Kamloops has a very nice Petro Canada truck stop. If I lived there, I would go there on my days off just to eat. Those small towns, population 100-5,000 will often have the best food, and cheapest fuel. They are also friendly, and love to see you walk in the door, because you ARE their main customer demographic, not the locals. I was on a haul for a while in 2019, where I stopped in the morning at a small diner, and again on the way home. By day 2 they all knew me by name at the restaurant, and just 600' further down the hwy was the cheapest fuel price I saw along my daily route. They were an independent station, not a big brand name, so of course I didn't have a fuel card for them. So I asked at the restaurant who i would see about getting a charge account there to fuel up on my way home every day. Waitress made a call, and said 'Jerry' would be over to see me in a jiffy. Moments later a fellow walks in, waitress points at me, Jerry walks to me table, introduces himself, and sits down. We chat for 5 minutes, nothing was signed, I gave him my name, company name, and mailing address to send a monthly bill to. He pulled a card out of his pocket, handed it to me, gave me the 4 number pin code to it, and thanked me for using his fuel. When the bill was mailed to me monthly, I grabbed it, wrote a company cheque, and next time I was at the restaurant left it there, and asked them to please give that to Jerry the next time he was in.
    Do I love small towns?
    The answer is yes.

I love driving across Saskatchewan and Manitoba. If this covid crap ever comes to an end I might end up out in southern MB.

Ontario isn't horrible depending on where you are. French canadians can suck a dick. I hate them like you have no idea. Always a bunch of rude ###.hats. I like newfoundland and Labrador though. Good times there. The people there are a bit different.....in a kinda fun....odd way.

I suck at it. I just do the old smile and nod. Most of the people I've ever met there have been decent.
