Guess I've been lucky. Never had to have a load reworked. Cut by one pallet due to over gross, but never re worked for axle weights.

5 reworks. shipper didnt want to listen to me. little old lady didnt belive the cali axle rule. and even with the trailer marked for the 41 foot looking at my axle position they still wanted to measure personaly. i kept telling them no more then 21 pallets when loading over 40,000lbs for cali. the 22nd is why its over in the back. take the load off spread that pallet across the ones in the front half of the trailer and it will be all good. but oh no 5 hours later they just cut the pallet from the load all together.

these people were so dence they had a single then a double on the end, they belived that if you made it doubble then a single that would magicly make it better.

i dont know nothing, just loaded frozen pork going to cali for 3 years but hey do it your way.

Remember, if your truck is equipped with an APU or any idle reduction technology, you can run up to 80,400 lbs legally. This does not mean that you won't be scrutinized in a chicken house, but you don't have to worry about a ticket for being a 100 or 200 over. I think it's amazing that so many people in our industry don't know about this amendment to the bridge laws...

I believe that you need to have a certificate from the APU manufacturer with the exact weight of the unit. You get credit for what's on the certificate.

If you're pulling a 53' trailer, the mark is at 40 feet from the kingpin not 41! 41 WILL get you a ticket in CA unless you're pulling a 48 footer...

That is correct! The certification should be onboard with your permits and truck papers, it came with the APU when it was installed. If you have a 300 lb APU, you get a 300 lb credit. The DOT officer also has the right to ask you to fire it up to see if it's working properly. If not, you cannot claim the credit...

Unless things have changed, Florida doesn't recognize the 300 lbs for a APU

Hmm... I thought RI, NC and KY already have the legislation... I thought it was just CA and DC looking for the extra tax revenue.
