I'm only guessing. Maybe one day I will take the time to research it. I think that 10 year driving history thing as well as some other things were added as part of the Patriot act. makes sense in the abstract but loses a lot on translation. Most of this is stupid, though so then do so today. I do not hold a license. I have no hazmat or TSA background checks. There is nothing that would prevent me from stealing a loaded tanker and blowing it and myself up as some event with thousands there. IF you do not think it is easy to steal like this you are sadly mistaken. What's more sleeper cells can lay in wait for decades. I'm not a big fan of the Patriot act. It brings false security. The same can be said for TWIC too. If you don't think bad people do not have TWIC cards TODAY RIGHT NOW I got some property I will sale you!

Yep, I walk away when they ask that. Or if they insist on Intelliapp.

Drivers with verifiable experience often get paid more by the lenght of time as over the road. To qualify, the driver must submit some form of legal documents when self employed such as a tax return. However, if you are a newbie, you'll be starting out at the bottom. Having over 5 years of continued experience should put you at the top of the pay scale with a mega carrier.

If you dont like the mega, hire on as a sub contractor with a small fleet. They just need a honest driver that can work hard and deliver on time and will generally pay the driver competitive wages.

It's called sole proprietorship. But I guess 1099 needs to be done at tax time.

So if I apply for a job with you how will you verify my last 10 years of employment if I don't provide you any documentation?

Nothing personal but honestly this (documentation can be faked) happens more then you might know. When building driver qualification files that use (gasp) DAK and either emails or fax's to the carriers you list. Make no mistake however. if a carrier can not satisfy the FMCSA rules in regard to that qualification file they in most situations will turn you down.

I just went through it and me working at Crete for 9 years meant I was the easiest background check the guy has ever done. I hope this is my last employer.
