I don't really understand the necessity of a 10 year work history for trucking, "it is what it is", but it's like aren't you satisfied that I have no criminal background, a clean driving record, bill of health, and a CDL? What was I doing before this? Obviously I was somewhat unsuccessful at it (and we're all supposed to be pursuing happiness, remember)... so much for a fresh start. Didn't have many problems with this, but it was slightly annoying and patronizing in my opinion (I generally don't apply to any company who won't have someone meet me in person, show me their equipment, and give me a good idea if I should bother filling out all of that nonsense).

Well, this last round I filled out some apps online (must have been delerious), just as I suspected, my good faith was only acknowledged by half of them, inviting me to meet in person (which was nice enough, whether or not they want to hire me at the time or I have other offers, I'll follow up with all of them for their professionalism, and the rest won't be hearing from me again—I don't really count the "thanks" from "do not reply" as an acknowledgement, and with driver turnover being "what it is", you'd think they'd want you to keep them in mind—nope).

That's alright, I only need to find one good company (to meet halfway with good driving, plan-a), and the fewer I have history with, the better (plan-b, either that or go with a temp agency, and do a little bit of driving for everyone, plan-c, while plan-d would be getting my own truck after that, finally plan-e would be emigrate to another country and go from there)...

Another reason trucking stinks. Be unemployed for one, two or 5 years (by choice or not) and go to school to get your HVAC license, welding certificate, medical assistant, cna, go to cooking school - you name it and if you pass the class and get qualified it doesn't matter if you've been out of work for 10 years or not you can get a job easily. But in trucking you have to FIRST have a PERFECT 10 year work record just so you can get the blessing to have the great life of sitting in an aluminum box for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and have no social life and work 70 hours a week just so you can make MAYBE 35k. Who want's that life? When other lives are so much better.
