It just astounds me....been working in trucking since '98 and never been "fired".

Always have had my choice of jobs, in fact, a CDL-A in my back pocket has been an insurance form for much of my life, always will have a job.

And that hire right place is bs. They were keeping me from getting a better paying job by reporting old info (a felony that was over 25yrs old, AND I already had it expunged) they were breaking the law but when I went to meet them with my lawyer they just said, hey mistakes get made and we just made one here, it won't happen again. No money received from a defamation suite or nothing. Companies should really do a background check on the people they hire and use their info as to whether they hire a driver or not! Grrrrrrrrr

Being newer to trucking its my first and only CDL A company for 4 years so I'm paranoid. I didn't do a letter just told my manager my plans and did it last day of vacation. Cleaned out my truck and left it at the terminal before taking vacation. I Verbally resigned however he was going through the computer for reason codes. so he selected mutual agreed termination- personal.

I was fired twice, which made me ineligible for unemployment benefits.
I didn't want unemployment benefits anyway because it's a pride thing and also because a trucker can always find a new job.

Being in the minority here in having each, I'd have to say that the college degree is more lucrative, even with student loans considered. The hours are certainly better, as are the co-workers.....

Laid off three times in my whole career, 2 times it was a seasonal layoff, the last one was due to low business levels. Went back on all 3 callbacks.
