Pure BS . He has a CDL . That's all the high dollar CDL mils do is qualify you to pass the terst to get the CDL . He's in Texas . There are plenty of places that will hire him . Keep an eye on him . I bet he's working when these CDL graduates are still sitting home waiting to work or have paid for a bus ticket home after they washed out at BFI orientation .

I do agree with your apprasial of the CDL mills, and he may have equal or better training, but he has no chance in this day and age as a new driver with out certifide CDL training and formal company OTR training............. period! There was a day when you could approach a career as a driver in the way he has attemped, but the insurance companies would never allow a company to hire this driver. Heck I have had my CDL for 5 years, and the last company I hired at, their insurance called to verify my training at my school prior to orientaion! Even the soda and beer distributors state Min 4 months exp and CDL school in their ads in the paper...........lets face it, he has been getting turned down all over due to these facts, thats why he is here looking. It is almost 2012.........not 1992

You need to get a list of companies and go pay a visit, in person, to the hiring manager and present your case. If they see you had the were with all to get your CDL on your own, you might just find someone to give you a shot.
My first driving job was with a redi mix company and they were going to help me get my Class B on their truck. I passed on it since unemployment was paying for my school and I got my A and still went to work for them. I later moved over to a semi hauling rock and sand.
