Rookie Mistakes That Could Have Been Avoided

    Trade off driving every 5 hours. If I napped I went off the log, if I stayed in the jump seat I remained on the log book. You need slow loads when doing this because you both run out of hours around the same time, so the truck has to be parked overnight. It only lasted about week till I was able to drive 10 hours straight without severe fatigue. Maybe some of you were able to drive a full shift right out of CDL school but I wasn't able to. I had to work up to that point. Some days my trainer had to pull a full shift on his own to get us back on schedule, which meant I didn't get to drive that day.

    I'm pretty sure those 5 hours would have been done in 8 hour windows, which would keep the log books legal.

    and if you happen to get the kingpin over the plate. grrab a 2x4(i used a hammer) and put it under the jaws to tilt plate, then lower airbags. you mite have to raise trailer more if that still doesnt work
