I did that, at that building, with a 53 and a sleeper. One pull up. ............ then I woke up.

Worked at an auto parts joint years ago. Truck backed in and gouged a big hole all the way thru the wall. Made a big mess

That only looks dramatic because drivers are adding up the damages they can cause when screwing that up. Obviously ruining a building and truck can be quite costly.

You break down the situation it is not that bad. He has to back around the corner of a straight edge: The side of a wall. That is an easy and great reference point. There is no sun in his eyes since you can clearly see the shadow of the truck. He brings the trailer in at an angle, and when the pivot point of the trailer, the center of the front axle, passes the edge of the wall he straightens it out as quickly as possible. This is done all the time, just the reference point is not often a edge of a garage door.

He has a daycab, a single screw, a 48' trailer, and a spotter. No doubt a good driver, but the driver that does that with a sleeper, solo, at night, with a 53' would be more amazing.

just a matter of time practice&confidence....but if you start out by saying "I'll NEVER be able to do this" You're right you won't....done long haul ltl for over 40 years been to dozens of places like that....in 1974 I probably would have gotten in/out that old R Model 25x....and taken 3 breaks to stop my left leg from shakin.....but you keep at it you get better.....like Dave said....I blindside Everyday....weather I need to or not....too many drivers only back when the have to....it is a skill like any other....ya got to keep it sharp

Spend 18 years driving local in a day cab and those stops will break the boredom. If you've never been there before I say 4 pull ups max. If that's a regular stop then I say 1 pull up max.
