If you are using a long rope, and you have it threaded through the drings on the tarp, it makes it pretty quick to pull the rope down and slip it into the s hook that you are hooking onto the rub rail.
Our trailers have rope hooks on them, but since we switch trailers and the average driver is an idiot who manages to break those a lot, I tend to keep s hooks on hand for when i run across a broken rope hook.

I tried old "bungee" S hooks on rope, it didn't work out well for storing and reapplying them for the next use. I agree with that.
