Just realized that I forgot to mention that the 2015's have dual 100 gal tanks and not the 120 like the 12. The transmission on this truck floats very easily and smoothly. My 12 hated to float the gears.
I am not sure if I want to move the fifth up another hole or not. The reefer is about 23in from the apu radiator and fan. With 42.6k in the box and full tanks the truck weighed out like this:
Steers: 11720
Drives: 32480
Tandems: 32460
Gross: 76660
Running with JCT, Part Deux

Nice. I weighed like that before I slide my 5th all the way forward. Now I run 12300 loaded.
-
That's what I want. The '15 have a steer axle rating of 12.5k. Just wondering how close can get the reefer to the truck without it hitting the cab extenders during turns. -
Aminal and MachoCyclone Thank this.

I moved the fifth wheel today to the second notch.
Met up with another JCT driver along I-10 going the same direction. We will be riding along together til Houston and split from there cause he is going to Orlando. And even though we both have about the same weight (he has 400lbs more than me) my truck out pulled his KW on the hills along I-10. His gear ratio is 3.08 and mine is 3.07. Surely that alone did not make that big of a difference. Uphill, I could open the gap between me and him by mile or more.crxdc Thanks this. -
Picked up a load at Leprino in Lemoore, CA the other day. This was my load home to Florida. Load was ready but when I went to scale out at the gate.....81000 lbs. Now the fun starts.
Notify dispatch of the situation. The response? "Can you slide the tandems to get it legal?" Seriously? But then again I wouldn't expect any less from JCT's favorite nighttime dispatcher, Toria.
She then tells me that we can't cut the product. I immediately call bull #####. I've been dealing with this customer for 14 years and that has never been an issue. They will do it but there is a procedure. As it was later in the evening, not much was going to get done till the morning.
Now these loads are always super heavy and 95% of the time it's not an issue. The bills did say 44908, which is a bit more than I usually pull out of there.
As I'm talking to night dispatch,I get asked if I was full of fuel. My reply was, "Yep, just topped off before I got here." "Why would you do that?" My reply, "It's simple. I'm not a company driver. The ONLY person that makes decisions about MY business is me."
They tried to give me the lecture about running 1/4 or 1/2 tanks. I stopped them and reminded them that I'm not a company driver. No load will ever dictate how, when, or where I fuel.
I bought $2.95 fuel in California which wouldl get me to $2.45 fuel and home.
So, on to the resolution of the weight problem. There was a super single trailer sitting there. I asked Leprino if they would move the product to that trailer as it was lighter. They did. Scaled out at 79980 with full tanks.
That's legal and every one was happy. Then headed east....Jarhed1964 and MachoCyclone Thank this. -
Merry Christmas my dear friends. If you don't do Christmas, I absolutely respect that and offer you my personal best wishes for what you celebrate. Call Him whatever you will; He's the same despite name and this is a great time of year to remember that we are all born and cut of the same cloth.
We just stitch the cloth in different ways according to how it fits us. Same cloth, just different hats and coats. That's it.
Same highways. Just different color paint on the rigs we roll in.
Peace of the Almighty be upon you all.
My name is actually Stan. From me to you . . . Blessings of the Creator be upon you and your families.
Oh, cheesy or not:
I AM JCT ! !
Merry Christmas and Good Night my friends.Last edited: Dec 21, 2014
