Couple 'o points: 1)Revenue does not make profits. Profit is a result of margin. A low revenue high margin operation can generate more profit than a high revenue low margin operation. The Paper Kitty Cat (just messing with you S.T.) is in the former camp. If you intend to be a long term truck renter then he has excellent sage advice. 2)There are many paths to the same destination. Both of you guys are correct in your opinions, it's just you are on different roads and dont seem to be able to see the others position. Personally, I am paying off the truck so I look to book as many miles as I can. I don't mind throwing away a few pennies in the short term to make more dollars in the long term ($20k-$30k extra per year) plus, have more options available to me as the truck owner. I respect S.T. and understand his position but his method is clearly not good for my operation. TA
Agreed. If you want to pay off the truck, my method wouldn't be advisable. If you have no intentions of owning that particular truck, then my methodology makes perfect sense. Pay as little to "use," "rent" or whatever terminology you want while in the truck.
good day all have not been on here for a while. holding down the fort as hubby is on the road hes been with jct for 6 months now. Miles are good. there are a slow period but that is to be expected. now maybe some of the guys can answer a question for me if they can. He started in late September or no it was first week of October, and I have heard of a safety bonus is that true? and if so how does that work he did not get one in December probably cuz of just starting in October. Can someone tell me if its by miles or quarter or both and if so when is the next one due to pay out just curious thanks guys and gals.
its based on miles and quarter. its paid on the last settlement of the first month following the quarter. next one is last week of april.
From the few drivers I've spoken to, they are getting 8+ running @ 70 mph. They are grandfathered in on the speed. But on the flip side, spoke to a driver this morning. He's running 55 mph and getting almost 10 MPG. I say it's to soon to say what's what as they aren't broken in yet. Well have to wait and see after 6 months and pull actual ECM reports. Hope that helps
If you start during a quarter, you don't get a bonus until your 1st full quarter, which sounds like it would be the one ending today, March 31. It will be paid the last settlement day of April.
I think they are the 386. I know they have 10spd transmissions and wide base singles. Not sure about the motor or rear end ratio.
