Yes i would say that. Your not going to get rich but you can do well and its consistant. They dont bug you to run so if you dont run orbcant figure.out how to put loads together its your own fault. Some people just dont have it, they spent their whole carier running miles miles miles. Well that whole "keep the truck rolling atball costs" is a company mentality. An owner op needs to run for good money and not run cheap. Its a fine line to balance. Am i better to sit here and wait forbab$2/mi load or take this $1.30/mi? Normally wait for the $2/MI but not always. If its going to take two weeks to find it then your betterboff cutting your losses. Plus there is some places that will never have $2/mi freight. Its your own #### fault if you get into that area or didnt get a round trip rate going in so you can bounce out. I will often bounce rather than haul cheap just outbof spite. Its one thing to haul a cheapish load but i will never put a load on my truck that pays under my operating costs. Im not paying to move anyones freight. I will pay to bounce.out and its alot easier on my equipment.
likewise its also your fault if you ahve a $2800/mo largecar payment on a truck that gets 4mpg. Just isnt going to cut it thesebdays unless you got a niche gig going on

You didnt make it as a cre lo because they dont want to to make it. Its more profitable for them that you fail and they get to start over the lease with the next sucker. Companies have lease programs because it saves them $20k a year per driver having contractors instead of drivers. Its not for your benifit

companyman i agree my truck payment is under 1600 amonth and it's for 2 years (unless i can earn then i'll try and payoff sooner) i plan on being out 2-3 weeks and only running the best freight i can book not the most miles. i'll probably try and stay in the midwest area maybe a little southern but no NE..... hrtbr8kr i agree about building, were looking for land now and if we find the right piece hope to buy and then build on it in a couple years. I'll build it my self except for electrical and hvac and plumbing of course.

Wrong...ppl who don't install or use properly cause fires. Not the inverters...kinda like guns....savvy?

And as far as your snide comment about going somewhere else, you haven't read my story have ya? I don't drive OTR so I don't need or want a large inverter in my truck. But otr drivers who live in their trucks should have the option to be able to eat right in their trucks and be able to watch a little tv on breaks without having to spend 100 bucks a day...

I have lived on a pay as you go basis for 7 years. No credit cards, last car was paid off 3 yrs ago. Just the truck note. Of course now i need a new truck but nobodybwill touch me untill.after the forclosure is done. Theyre.afraid they will get caught up in a bankruptcy if they finance.me before then.

i would think with all the info out there that driver's would learn but i guess it's the lure of big money and the O/O freedom that these l/p driver's are chasing only to find out they will never achieve it as a L/P driver, but i guess the ones who do it and learn at least they learn...
