gotta love mondays coming back on duty from tah.

had my safe track this morning. few things to improve on but overall good.

So my "ready" load is a JC P load. 2 drop load, first at 0300 the 2nd at 0700 tomorrow morning. no longer a fan of those kind of hours. I'm usually asleep at 0300. Ok whatever. My ETA is for 1031 with a pu window of 1000-2359. Cool. short enough to get up there , shut down for 10, catch a few winks at least and make my morning "critical time" delivery appt.

UNTIL......................... I get to the DC for the load. "We're running behind. load wont be ready til around 1600".

well ####, that dont work. See I came on duty at 0700. not enough time for all.

"Oh thats not a problem. shut down NOW for 10 then you're good to go"
This was at 1100. Timing dictated I stay at DC to grab load then jet up north for delivery. I WAS able to get detention pay out of it. so thats something for sitting to gain my 11/14 back. this iS going to suck though, as those early hours are now foreign to me.

But thats what they make coffee for right?

Well, last night I dropped a Walmart load but they didn't have any empties so I filled out the necessary workflow stuff and support shift took pick up empty off of my task list so I drive down to a pilot for the night. About 1200 today I got a load to go pickup some hay 82 miles east of where I'm at. I fill out the "request trailing unit" macro, wait 30 minutes for a reply but never got one so I call up my dbl and he has me go back to the Walmart dc to check for empties. No empties. Call back and my dbl is busy so I talk to another woman who says she talked to someone and there going to be sending me an empty of workflow. 20 minutes later, nothing. My dbl calls and I tell him what's going on and he says he will check on a few things to see what's going on and find me an empty.

It's now 14:15, I still need an empty and I need to pick up 80 miles away by 1600.......... Waste of a day......... It would have been better just to take a 34 hour restart.

Oh, and its been snowing since this morning...

Back to square one. Start tech school next Monday. Giving SNI some serious thought along with a couple other companies.

What is the general consensus on SNI?

RUN!!!!!!! Haha just kidding. I personally wouldn't work for any other large company. I plan on sticking with them until I go owner op, and then maybe even haul there loads after.

That sucks Mickey. When I started I told my dbl I can't sleep during the day which means I will not run in the middle of the night cause it would be unsafe for me to do so. He told me I can turn down loads that require middle of the night driving with that reason and it won't be held against me.

I just finished my first day of orientation here at Schneider and I want to share a few things with people that are looking for some info. Orientation curriculum has now changed to at least 3 weeks from 15 days. The class starts at 7 a.m. each morning (most recruiters tell you 8 a.m).

The physical testing IS fairly easy, just be sure to BREATHE!!! The max heartrate is set high enough for you that you shouldn't have to worry. (I'm 5'9 and 36 yrs old. My max was 166 a minute and I didn't get over 120) They only take your blood pressure one time and it's before beginning the test. I want to also emphasize that while I am very overweight and out of shape I do not have a problem with my blood pressure or heart so be sure to take your meds!

One last thing; they do have a dress code and don't allow sleeveless shirts, sweatpants, holes in clothing, dirty clothing, expect good hygiene, nothing with curse words or adult content or meaning, suggestive or adult content tattoos must be covered, and no facial piercings.

Like I said though, this is my first day so I will post more info later if I think it would be worthwile to share :biggrin_25525: Have a good day!!!
