Yep... If I was at a truck stop I normally pre-trip in about 30 or so taking my time. Then I would pull up and fill truck, scrub windows, all lights, and mirrors. After I was done I pull over to where I can sit another 15 and check brakes and lights again as well as make sure everything is stored.

I double check brake systems as I had an ABS system on a trailer fail when I was at Swift; it shut ALL my brakes down when I was delivering in Terra Haute. I was moving down a 2% grade at 25 mph. It took me nearly a quarter mile to get it stopped; only a foot away from the crossing gate as a train was crossing. I have never sweated so much in my life. I had to change clothes when I pulled into PPG.

I did not even know a trailer ABS could do that, till then. Road side service came out and disabled trailer ABS by pulling fuse at the trailer connector and everything worked okay; just no ABS. Swift sent me to Manteno, IL to drop MT and on to Gary to get tractor serviced; overheated rear drive brakes. Had to back road a bit to avoid scale houses.
