They take it out of your settlement each week. Amount varies by the age of the truck. I have a 2014 Evo and 106 per week goes to maint.

aluminum is more expensive than plastic,so is huckbolt construction. Fleets use FLs because the they hold up fairly well for 500k miles. If you want to run more than 2mil you are much better off with a Pete and a Cat. The Co that I'm leased to has 100 12 and up Crapcadia's. They are constantly replacing condensers, I just replaced the original on my Pete at 1.5 mil, it was okay but original compressor blew so did it while it was apart. I get 6.6 to 7.2 MPH depending if I drive 62 or not,78000lbs and up. Own 2 Pete 379's and haven't had a truck payment in years.

What's a good amount of $ to have on hand when first switching over from company driver to choice? I've got 5 days of home time coming up in a few days and will be calling up Schneider Finance to see if I can get the ball rolling on becoming an IC.

Me personally I'd have at least 3-5k extra liquid on hand if I bought a truck with warranty . And I'd have 8-10k liquid if I did not have a warranty . Personally I like to have 15k expendable but I go over board with 15k you can do just about anything you'll need . But if under warranty you won't need that

Awesome, I'll have $10-15 on hand when I switch over. Can't wait to get started.

I say you won't need it but if you were down for say 2 weeks or so it would be nice to have that large of a nest egg even if you had warranty . You could keep your payments current and not go in the rears.

If you get behind 2 weeks or so with a high payment weekly it may take 2-3 weeks to pull out unless finance does some magic for you and moves payments etc .. But if you had the best egg life would be much much easier and less stressful

I was up to about 20 on mine but I put in more in my savings cause I knew I was taking time off for 2-3 weeks so I used my overage I saved to cover my vacation .

Keep in mind I don't lease a SNI truck I brought my own ... So I can use my Maint account for what ever i want .. Lol
