Schneider seems to have a lot of strikes against it

Although his post is meant as banter it is actually helpful. I've research Schneider & knew about the governor & idle policy but only ran across one post in regards to the inverter. It's good to have it all in one thread.

I mean idle policy is so you don't get idiots running the truck when its nice out. They don't expect you to not idle when its hot out and you need to sleep that is a safety issue. The trucks being stuck at 60. Well they get a lot of new drivers or drivers that are "high risk" so it is safer for everyone if they can't do 80 as some drivers that do 80 cant handle it. Inverter yeah what they don't know doesn't hurt you. If you are new yeah got to start some where.

Of all the "mega carriers" I put sni up against anyone, now the. 60 mph do suck, but 900-1k a week, home every weekend, a main terminal in my city is fine by me and you can idle your engine just fyi.

I love working for O/O or small family companies. Paper logs, no tracking device s, pure freedom.

I couldn't agree more younclarkh. I can only speak as a brand new CDL holder but my newness doesn't make my opinion any less valid, especially for others who are new like me. I just graduated from Central Tech in Drumright, OK at the end of June and have spent lots of time researching companies that hire student drivers out of Central Tech. Schneider made me a job offer for a dedicated Georgia Pacific run out of Muskogee, OK averaging 2800 miles per week and home every weekend for a 34 hour reset. Those were the good points. However, Schneider's starting pay (29 cpm) was the lowest of nine different companies that made me job offers. And Schneider's progressive pay rate never did catch up with any of the other companies I was considering. When I added the low cpm to the four negative points you mentioned, I had no choice but to pass on Schneider.

Take a look at Gordon or Crete. They have APU's in their trucks.

Depends on what type APU. Some are battery pack and only good for heat and air conditioning.

Crete has the battery pack APU. Sucks if you want any AC power. However, they will install an inverter (up to 1500 watts, I think) if you buy one from their company store.
