I thought these cases at the SC level had to do with procedural moves, the case I read was about applying the federal arbitration laws instead of having the company dictate to the lease holder who handles it. The company followed the ruling of the arbiter to pay back pay, not the court.

I wonder if many know there is an opportunity cost to this, if you are an owner and want to cry about these things, then there is less money to be made, not more when you are leased to these megas. It will filter down to the small and medium companies who don't want to deal with litigation.

If the company has to violate federal labor laws in order for you "make money" then something is wrong.

Same used to be true for sitting and waiting, you're not actually working why would they pay you? As you can see that is now out the window.

Just last weekend I spent 4 days in a hotel waiting for a part for my truck to arrive so it could get fixed. I was of course off duty but I was paid break-down pay of 100 a day.

By definition I was not at work, not being asked to do any work but unable to go home because I was too far away. (ironically I was 1.8 miles from my sisters house but they were gone for the weekend). So does this ruling effect that or will companies just say "Ok, I'll pay you 7 bucks an hour to sit and get loaded, but spend 4 days in a hotel and I won't pay you a dime in breakdown pay"?

I have a funny feeling companies will find a way around this.

It's going to get better than that how's this sound, "get paid for every hour you're in the truck, driving, sleeping, doesn't matter," hell of a line to get people through your driving school and on the hook for a few grand you know they can't pay, of course they won't tell you you're only going to make 7.50 an hour until after "school" is over.
