wyoming, one year without a medical certification, and you will be downgraded to a class c license, regardless of what you self certify.

Smartest thing to do is call the state where your cdl is issued from. All you get here is opinions.

Its best call the DMV in your state because every state has there own rules. In NC where i needed to recertify, i asked the DMV if i could self certify as "Excepted interstate" because i am not driving commercially and want to keep my Class B CDL status without needing a DOT medical card. They said yes i can do that and so thats what i did. They did say that i would need to recertify and get a DOT card before i can begin driving commercially again. Its very confusing because not all states allow this. I called them twice about this to make sure i was okay, once before i sent the form in and once after to make sure they got it. Both times they said i was ok, but i hope i was told the correct info. I wish i knew this years ago because i wouldnt have needed to pay for a physical for no reason. I just did this but finding it difficult believing it to be true because the information about this on the internet is all over the place on this. Every state is differrent and its best to make sure with your state first and your license type. For me i will just have to see if i get something in the mail about my license. But i dont expect them to downgrade me because i changed my status from non-excepted interstate to excepted interstate.
