I must of read the thread wrong. Was under the impression he already had this 379 in his possession. And selling the 389 for profit and dump the profits into the 379

Maybe selling the 579 would be a better idea then

Kinda my thought too. If you didn't need a new truck, then why did you order one. If you needed it, then why would you sell it?

There are these things called wants. There are people, me being one of them, who will spend money on something simply for the hell of it. Who said there has to be a need for something to buy it? Everything is for sale for the right price. Offer somebody that sort of profit margin in that sort of time frame on just about anything and they'll sell it to you.

And I guarantee you that the minute you think your done after 130k down you see so much other sheet that needs done or find sheet that is a product of the build and is a pain to find. Is it worth it? I can’t say that’s always up to the man with the money to decide. I have built trucks several of them. Make no mistake I would do it again today, the only point I mean to make is some think it’s easy. Or they seem to come off that way at least. For me it’s not hard but I have had to straighten up the mess of others and that is a pain in the ###.

A 379 that’s had 130 put in it will be a good truck no doubt, if the right people do it. But it’s still a truck and a used one at that. It will give more trouble than you think

I’m in a similar boat. I ordered a new truck because I’m out of depreciation on my current truck. New truck is supposed to be here next week and I’m thinking about selling it after first of the year. I don’t “need” a new truck, I can keep my current paid for truck and dump the money I make into my 1980 Freightliner cabover that I need to start working on.

To each their own. It's your money to do with what you want. Obviously something prompted you to order a new one. So, unless that has changed. Then the reason you ordered it is still valid.
My buddy delivered to kw last week. Brought in a load of the piggy back dollys. My buddy asked him all kinds of questions for me. Because I want a new 880. Guy said stay far away for a very long time. They have trucks that have been sitting on their lot for over a year now and they are cannibalizing them, (making 50 trucks out of 200). Because they don't have the parts. So your truck might already be 2 years old when you get it. You don't and and they don't know.

I told you what prompted me to order one. No depreciation left. The easiest thing to do back in April was order a truck. I buy the new truck and get some depreciation for 2021, then I sell the new truck in January and I have until the end of 2022 to do something with that money.
