If ya ain't gonna go, just call and cancel. They'll snivel and whine, but ya gotta do right by you AND your family first. Remember, recruiters will offer you anything and everything to get your butt in their seat. Without anything in writing, they can't be held accountable for any promises made. The run you are on now sounds like a cake walk compared to just about anything else I've seen.

Money can be earned. Lost family time can NEVER be replaced.

You can get all the promises in writing, but what are you going to do when they will not honor any of it?

Years ago, I knew a driver that would carry around a pay stub and show other drivers what he was making. The only problem was, that he failed to mention that it also included vacation pay that he had cashed in.

My Dad told me before I went into the Air Force a life time ago, "believe half what you see, and a fourth of what you hear."

I'd stay put where you're at. That's a easy gig.

Sure its an easy gig, but when you need a lil more money to be comfortable and tired of waiting all day to start work, Swift deal sounds sweet. I think im gonna go to the orientation anyway, see what they say. If i cant get solid answers, ill stay where im at, finish 6 months to get my two years exp, and look into a LTL line haul gig or something in them quoted $60,000 range.

eh, regarding your intent to change jobs after Swift...try to keep your total number of jobs held to the smallest number...

Got it. I was thinking about that ad well. So far i got 1 year OTR with Knight, 6 months at this job. And only if i can get a secured time off and possible pay raise will i move to swift. Having been i knight i know what im walking into, but im told swifts in a major overhaul with the cameras and 60mph speeds. Where im at aint offering no extra money or gigs just getting gas savey. At least with swift i can run hard and make extra money and still see home.

In orientation and it looks like a welfare line! 80 new hires and 3-6 folk processing. Everything is just draging a 2 hr day into a 8 hrs day. If tomorrow shows no improvement im outta here! But at least i can say I experienced this mass numbers game. Day ones unpaid, so i gotta atleast get my hotel and second day of pay.

    5 year old thread, Ginger.

And those Walmart accounts are not like regular OTR. You work with their schedules, not the other way around.
