The way some people talk about pot users is like they are all a danger to everyone on the road because they got high the evening before.

So I'm asking some of our Canadian members, is there carnage on your road up there cause by Marijuana use? I don't think they have any drug testing up there.

Employment testing is Just at the companies discretion. Some do a pre-employment test, lots don’t. Maybe it’s tied with their insurance.

Carnage on the road… cars everywhere. Looks like the walking dead up here.
No, I don’t think it’s that much of a problem. Maybe a cop would tell you differently but it’s not like what some people fear.

I think it's still too much of a grey area to even worry about. In Canada, as a commercial driver, you can't have any amount of a non-prescribed drug in your system while operating. Even for regular motorists, the maximum allowed is 2ng/ml. The issue seems to be that no one knows how that is equivalent to smoking a joint. Is it two hits? Four hits after x hours? It's a guessing game. Commercial drivers are held to a higher standard and the media will paint you in an unfavourable light if something was to happen.

Should you be able to? Probably. I know a lot of rec smokers. I don't see it as much of an issue, the symptoms of a high don't last all that long. I personally don't see the big deal about shutting down, smoking a joint and getting a good sleep. But others will, and opinions will always be divided.

No we dont have drug testing,,heck WTF would drive if that were the case:D
99% of all the carnage on our highways is caused by New Canadians. Big problem allowing low rent trucking companies to have their own training schools and allowing them signing authority for AZ license.
Trucking schools pass 95% on first attempt while at govt testing centres the passing rate is 67%

With or without the current laws/regulations there will be laws/regulations. I've been around enough dope smokers to understand they lower their own standards once they start using. They ALWAYS start out "I would never use before X", and that always becomes "I would never use a lot before X." And then it becomes "I would never use TOO MUCH before X" And then it becomes "they just fired/arrested/divorced me because they don't want me to be happy" or something. The dope smokers pretend this one magic plant will just be the one particular "brick" they will remove, and no more, and the harm that comes from adding one more excuse for people to avoid responsible behavior will have no other effect. They wan to make believe the world after more people use dope will be exactly like the world now but it will just have a different number of people using dope. You know, just like productivity sprang back into the exact output before people started getting paid to stay home in pajamas and pretend to work or screw it do no work of any kind and blame it on a virus.

You are the one telling me I think weed is the worst thing in the world, maybe THC is giving you hallucinations or making you paranoid? Do we need more bad drivers, more slackers, more whiners? I remember when the dope smokers told us that legalizing weed was going to make states rich, people happy, and society healthier. Anyone believing fairy tales should stop. Go into the neighborhoods where dope smoking is highest and none of them are more functional than the places where there is less dope smoking. If the weed was harmless the places with massive use and little use should be almost identical. The truth is the people wanting to check out of reality don't just shirk one responsibility. They shirk as many as they can get away with and a few more until they sink to their usual level of self-imposed troubles.

You're incorrect. I don't want the government to have control over our bodies at all, that includes forced vaccination OR prohibition of drugs. Either you own your body or the government does, choose one.

I have the ability to advocate for something that I do not do myself. I've had my CDL for twelve years and have not touched marijuana in that time. Nor have I purchased marijuana in my life.

The negative consequences that come from making life easier for the weed advocates in safety sensitive jobs is still on you when it happens. The "tear the rules down" crowd just have an easier selling job since the audience for being irresponsible is always more vocal and willing to be more irresponsible than the people willing to do the hard work and delay gratification for a better future. It's a race to the bottom in almost all of society and the people just want to pretend the hole they drill in the boat won't be the one that sinks the boat. Life was better when society observed higher standards. They don't call it "dope" for no reason.

The interaction between the statists and the hippies will produce govt power expanding into every area.
