anyone know where to purchase the small antenna spring that goes above the coil? Think Wilson coil style. I'm not talking about the spring that is mounted between the mount and the shaft. I've seen another brand antenna that comes with that small spring for the whip but I wasn't sure if you could purchase it separately. I'm in a transfer dump and I'm in the trees A LOT.

Thank you. Hmm I wonder if that would work with a Wilson 2000. Or I need to just let it go... those whips are only $10 to replace. I've got a 3" spring between the mount and shaft.

Wont work on a wilson ant. The coil is male threaded. I tried this with mine and they where 1/4-20 or maybe 5/16". I cant remember plus I had to make the spring hole bigger for the whip and it sent the SWR all outa whack so I just took them back off.

Ok I remembered and its 5/16-24 threads. So I guess if you got springs and whips to fit the springs you might be able to set them up right.

Were you using the spring to replace the coil or mounting the spring above the coil?

Put the spring above the coil. Like @Air Cooled I deal with trees and loading racks so wanted something that would let the whip be more flexable but yet not week enough to let the whole antenna flop around when at highway speeds.

I experience the same issues with trees and my 2 meter antenna. Wannted to clarify before next question. Did you shorten the whip when you installed the spring? If not that would certainly affect the swr.

No I didnt cause I had to drill out the spring to make it fit the whip. When it went all wacky I just said hell with it and am living with bent whips. If I had the right whips and springs then yea I would of spent more time playing with it but decided not to.
