I have Sprint HTC Evo, and the answer is YES. You can either "ROOT" your phone, or you can tether it using an APP called "Easy Tether" found on the Android Market.
I have Easy Tether installed on my EVO and it works pretty good....but you MUST follow the install instructions or Sprint will find out you're cheating.

    yeah Dave.

I have an Evo4g on Sprint, tether my laptop/phone with Pdanet and it has never once failed. I can hit the LS boards, watch Hulu, hell, even play WoW when I have time with little connectivity issues.

If you use Pdanet, pay for the full version. It's like 15bucks, but will allow you to go to pw protected sites, like this one. It's a one time chrge.

I have the free version of pdanet and access password protected sites all the time on it including this one.
