U2, i didn't see it that way. and the incident last week explains the newly revamped security. i'll remember that if i see another me walkin' around with a picture phone snappin' photos. better to be safe than try to relate my past experience to somebody who's really a criminal. i guess i don't feel so stiffed anymore.
I think its a good idea to do research, go down to the truckstop talk to drivers and all... Honestly, most of the security guys are worthless... I just gave my perspective as a driver, and what my thought process would have been seeing someone snapping pictures. On a funny note, Ive seen drivers mistake women drivers/wives/girfriends for lot lizzards once or twice... one woman gave a nice "one finger salute"
I never pay full price for a atlas. There will someone selling them on the CB dirt cheap as soon as you do.
My advice is if you're going to be taking pictures, do it discretely; For instance, i was going to take a picture of a long mack "large car" type tractor last night on the NJTPK at one of the rest areas, not because i'm into that kind of thing, but because i figured alot of people here would dig it. But i decided not to since alot of people are uncomfortable about getting their picture taken and i didn't have time to strike up a conversation w/ the driver.
Those large car drivers consider pictures a compliment. I've never ran across one that was unfriendly. Just don't touch it.
Yeah...that works when you're 21-40.....After which you'll need two pair of cheaters and a magnifying glass...and the print still looks too small.....
When you are starting out, you're usually limited to the starter companies anyway. I don't think taking pictures would help much except on the off-chance you find some smaller company that hires students. A lot of the companies are listed here anyway. I would have to agree with U2, I really don't think going around and taking pictures in a truck stop is a good idea unless you ask permission from the drivers of the trucks you're shooting. I would have thanked the security guards for running you off.
As a photo junkie that has had some run-ins with security and police, you should have insisted they called the cops.
