I'm sitting in the Flying J lounge here and drivers are talking about the rules. There are four different interpretations that these guys have i guess.

I'm getting a reset in before the new rules take effect since I'll be taking this one 6 days from my last reset and i won't have 2 periods between 1-5. I got loads lined up all next week so I gotta have hours.

I keep my mouth shut here about their discussion, I don't feel like arguing lol

You mean they took a break from arguing who had the most kills while they were Navy SEALS to discuss the new HOS rules? I don't believe it. How many of them are in sweat pants?

Lucky you.I did my fair share of otr an plan on going back to it.Only this time tanker/hazmat.The problem I have with the HOS is being controlled and tested like some monkey in a lab. This rule don't work will go to more stricter rules without any thinking on behalf of the drivers.Considering the crap drivers put up with forceably,we all deserve better pay.FMCSA wants to make it so drivers can't make a somewhat unlivable check.HOS was bad before, hard to make money. Now with the half hr brk which by the way is stupid.I can run 600 to 700 miles a day without nearly brking a sweat. We don't need a forced half hr brk unless we want to.That's my issue, the law and companies controlling our every move an we the drivers let it happen because we're company drivers.Too bad it's not 20 yrs ago when ppl left you alone. That came from my bf,he's been driving 29 yrs.

i run elogs too, some will tell you to log 15-20min then go off duty but from what I understand from regulations is if your not released to pursue your own thing then you must be at a ready state and remain on duty. Not very many drivers will log sitting at a shipper though, I learned my lesson when I logged on duty at a shipper that took 8 hours to load me, it screwed up the rest of my week with hours since I had to do a 34 and I wouldnt of needed it if I had just 3 more hours. Now I just ask to give my cell phone and be released for dot reasons, that way if im stopped for an inspection I can show I was released for those hours.
the past couple days I didnt care, i have been logging for detention since im going on home time tomorrow anyway and taking off until the 5th.

i understand and i agree it's only going to get worse this i know for a fact the day they put an elog in my truck is day i pack my #### and git on down the road back to construction or find something local which i hate even more then construction its sad but with todays drivers no one wants to stand up and do anything about it. hell you cant even get 2 drivers to agree on the proper length of time between showers should be. i mean c'mon its rediculous

i mean with that kind of mentality amongst the ranks how can we honestly as an industry "grow a pair" and fight the all mighty goverment. i know it can be done elsewhere i see it everyday look at the pro gun pro 2nd amenment guys after sandy hook if it wasnt for all of them saying NO we would have been stripped of our constitutional right to bear arms when they came out with all them laws.

so it can be done but with the people thats flooding our industry today i just dont see it happening just a bunch of puppets with zero guidance from anyone else but the goverment and they almighty mega company

Our safety dept told me I have to remain On Duty-Not driving for a min of 15 minutes while at a shipper/receiver. Then after that I can go to Sleeper because chances are I'm in my sleeper. I can Not go Off duty Because that would show I was not in my truck while at a shipper/receiver, cant do that. Sleeper counts as off duty to cover that 30 minute break. Is what safety told me.

All I see is about this rule is truck stops and rest areas with more trucks and less parking more often.

I see a couple of jerk offs already looking for loopholes and then people complain when new laws come down the pipe. If you've been working for 8 hours take a ###### break. From what I've seen a lot of drivers have more than 30 minutes a day worth of whining, complaining, and making up b.s. stories in them.
