I'll never say exactly what I'm hauling, or where and where it's going. Other than state-to-state. I have a dry load out of NJ to Louisiana paying $2.001/mi. Best load I've gotten out of Jersey that wasn't a shorty load.
So what are you hauling today, Driver? where you going? An whats the pay??

And if you do then just state,i picked up a dry box of porno's an chips 5000 pound and hauled them 300 mile and got paid $50.02 per mile loaded.
I picked up a load on the skate board 18000 pounds and hauled it 1200 miles and got paid .050 cent a mile.
i was not asking for critical info apparently your not getting the post.
You pretty much said it your self on the 2.25-1.75 load example, people think it is good , but if they know then it MIGHT make a difference.PEOPLE NEED TO BE INFORMED.
I do not see what the big issue is, my brother in law has a business and it is Manure pumping since 1970 something when it first started,A very limited customer base ,millions in equipment, you go to a farm and pump a few million gallons of liquid cow manure you get x amount of cents per gallon and move several million gallons in a year with all the farms together. you have 200 costumers, that you keep cuz your the best in the business, there are yearly meetings for the pumpers association in the state, others know your rate and how you operate and even the equipment you run,but is don't matter, cuz whats matter is how you do your job and keep your costumers and mix with them. there is really no under cutting and over pricing in there industry cuz everyone know what is charged and respects that and the other person business.
Some even know who pumps whos manure at what farms,And the amazing thing is they work 4 month in a year moving manure spring before the crop goes in the field for fertilizer,in the fall after the crop comes out and it supports 8 families.
They all know the other guys rate ,can you see it?
That other guy example, thinks 1.75 it dang good money BUT IF HE KNEW then maybe he would not take it.Being informed and keeping in the loop helps. how do other markets work and keep there price? People know! there informed. Should i include a cad drawing here? maybe a flow chart? -
I do not like the OP's post and reply to point out the stupidity of it. You come on here and post an example of a very limited localized niche market, manure haulers, and try to compare that to open market spot freight.... That is an apples to oranges comparison. In the open market for general flatbed, dry van and even specialized needs of those segments there are people who will see what you are hauling for and go do it for $50 less, or a $100 less or whatever.... The open market is cutthroat and that is how it works, very foolish to tell anyone rates and locations. Your pipedream of everyone singing kum-bah-yah and standing firm on rate, it AINT gonna happen..
It's funny though cause some of us will put our money where our mouth is... Late lastnight I could have cut the rate on an expedited power only load... Last minute had to roll straight thru over 500 miles, for $50 or $100 below other carrier's rate, I could have taken it away from another carrier and still made a great profit... I told the agent to call me if the other carrier dropped off of it for whatever reason.. Been over a week since I've hauled anything. The agent never called back... That is what you are hoping for from this but that just does NOT happen very often in the real world... Have you ever been in a situation like that and done the same? I've done it many times but again it doesn;t happen in the real world on most loads....Autocar, SHC, jess-juju and 1 other person Thank this. -

I think small business truckers need to have some level of respect for one another. I do not want my small business compeitors to "shrivel up and die". I do however want the large carriers and the ATA too fall. They not only cut throats financially, they do it through unrealistic rules by lobbying the FMCDA and Congress. Im not saying we all need to be best friends and share notes, but we do need to take care of each other on some level, or we will all "shrivel up and die"
trees, cableclown and BoyWander Thank this. -
I suppose I shouldn't share then that I just booked another 2 days worth of work then with $1300 revenue and under 250 miles of driving.
That's PER day.mnmover and cableclown Thank this. -
This thread to me sounds like someone does not know how to price their service's, and is rate hunting to see what the "going rate" is in different markets and segments of the industry.
Sly Fox, SHC, ShortBusKid and 2 others Thank this. -

I swear ,some of you guys are plain out to lunch. I am not even running the truck yet till end of month or end of april, and if you read my other post, all ready asked what flat should pay .
I could type till i was blue in the face an my finger are ready to fall off,and 90% of you wont get it.
Thats why your freight rates are in the hole.like the air pocket upstairs
I just could not understand back in the 90's why everyone was calling truck drivers dumb.......tapping fingers.............I think i am starting to see something i did not see before......I am so done trying to help anyone out with ideas, to each there own.And if you all need to get mad and ban me for speaking my mind, i really don't care, freedom of speech.peace -
