Perfect, it’s good to have reassurances form experience drivers. Guess the only difference then is one you pay annually.

They put it on the gooseneck so when they’re driving without the trailer (personal use) they’re not displaying their numbers.
What state are you in? In Texas it’s called “Token Trailer” other states call it “permanent trailer” or “semi trailer”. Either way, it’s the apportioned-equivalent tag for your trailer. Just make sure your trailer is registered with your state’s IRP (International Registration Plan) and doesn’t have a basic personal use registration.

Not to my knowledge, but may be required in some States? I don't know. I only run name and DOT # on my truck, truck has an apportioned plate. I pull my own trailer, but also pull my customer's non-owned trailer's, nothing on them either. Have had two level 2's, nothing said regarding that either. New Yuck likes the revenue though, hence yearly payment, no semi or permanent trailer plate available. Also, New Yuck prohibits a NY based carrier from plating their trailers to save $$$ in other States (ie: ME)...

Seems it’s not needed, per general consensus. I’m also pulling my personal trailer.

This is where my tag place messed up apparently. I gave them the temp registration and title and they just gave me a regular state tag. I asked about the permanent and they said it was for 53' semi's but I think that's completely incorrect. I've seen many hot-shots with it. I'm going to have to do some more research and maybe visit another tag place. What's the benefit of the IRP plate for the trailer?

Where are you located? That might help with the responses. I've never registered a trailer with IRP. Here in TN you go to your local county court clerk & pay a registration & title fee and they hand you a tag. It's the same tag regardless of trailer size. It's good for as long as you own the trailer.

That’s basically what I did and had the same outcome. I’m in South Florida.

We’re still pretty busy. I’ve noticed that load board rates have plummeted this last week so that’s gonna hurt anybody that relies on them for work.

Most of the HS rates we’re seeing are ranging from $2.20 to $3.40 a mile. Every so often we will exceed that, and occasional we will need to haul one that pays less to get out of an area. Step deck rates we’re getting are ranging from around $4.39 to over $5.40 a mile.
