diggergreg,
I was heading back rolling empty just with the trailer,
I got 11.5 mpg at the highest ( highway only, in a slightly hilly region) with an average of 10.2 mpg for the total trip rolling empty.

I'm not sure what my deadhead MPG is for real. I looked back at the past few months when all was said and done and made my spreadsheet reflect what was really used. Just an estimate but is pretty close.
-
overall avg. is only 5.7, (10055 DIV. by 1764) poor mpg, imo.
-
If you bothered to read my spreadsheet you would have noticed it's on there but thank you for the math equation.

Hey, thanks guys I've been reading many posts and trying to see the real world of your industry.

A company I know of is seeking O/Os right now for the Northeast corridor.
Anybody interested?

I appreciate your informative post. I am curious, regarding the freight rates you report, as to what kind of trailer you pull? I am hoping to get an idea of the rates for flatbeds. I was O/O 11 years ago pulling flats and am wondering if I can do it now in this economy and survive. Thanks in advance for your help. Thanks also to any flatbedders who care to respond.

Im trying to understand why someone would even come up with the idea that you have to have a broker authority to call a broker for a load...?
