If I do not fight for what I want to do pertaining to my life, & my career life in particular, etc, then what is the use of holding the mental capabilities of being human? Of course I would like to figure out the correct path for me. That does not necessarily involve the path of least resistance. However, your arguments are intriguing and valid. So I will continue to pose questions to you, as you seem to have a vested interest in contradicting the reasoning i hold toward the belief that my career path of choice is reasonably attainable. (if you choose to answer back) I hope the debate can remain in good fun & will remain on this website for future reference for all recovering addicts.

I'm not yet experienced with filling out many applications, but I have been reading threads on this here forum and from what I've read, companies can request health record, but they usually only do so when the DOT doc has specified a pre-existing condition prior to employment on the med-card. If this is true, there should be plenty of companies without a problem with hiring me. I will quasi-quote a trucker in another thread that stated "I filled out 50 applications a week" if there are 50 applications to fill out a week, surely 1 of those companies would hire me without ever even asking for a medical history check/grant, right?

Also, just to play the devil's fiddle, what if I were to simply see a doctor outside of my HMO tomorrow... Then when asked for my medical records, I would simply allow access to that set of records. My medical records would quite literally be "one visit- general checkup- 8/24/2016"

I am not solely trying to be a jack*** here, I am honestly interested in this type of thing, from a curious standpoint. I'm sorry if I'm coming off as pompous or immaturely self-righteous. I'm enjoying the conversation & it's also helping me to understand the industry insides & outs. So thanks for any help.

before attending school call some companies and see what their background checks consist of.You can tell them about your record, they don't need to know who you are. Then at least you'll get a general idea who will hire you. Those two accidents you had,yes you do need to report those. The application says even if you not at fault list all accidents.I commend you and proud of you getting off the dope and went thru rehab. But in this industry it may be too soon to be hireable. The second chance companies may give you a shot and that may be the only option you'll have at this time.Chinatown mentioned Carolina cargo, they're one of the worst companies out there but if you wanna clear your record that may be the only chance you'll have is with Carolina Cargo.

Personally I would hit that 1 year mark and go from there. I ran a celebrate recovery program that was for more than addictions but I also saw a lot of dreams crushed.

@Weeezerd .... things and thoughts are bouncing around here; I just want to congratulate you on your sobriety. I'm not a professional, nor an expert in the industry. I just commend you, and I wish I had the right answers. PERSONALLY if you are not on methadone nor suboxone {please say no...... its a killer..... i know for fact; seen it 2 many times} than you are NOT under treatment for opiates/ narcotics. I wish I had the right answers; nobody here does but YOU and hour Higher Power,

They're not the worst out there; the worst is Dollar General accounts.
Many drivers on this forum got their start at Carolina Cargo and are doing very well now. This company serves a niche in the industry that needed to be filled.

All the mega carriers have DG accounts but the carriers are still far better then CC. You're just a salesmen for Carolina Cargo like I am for uber.

Please stop misrepresenting to the OP what information a trucking school will obtain prior to processing his application. Regardless of any consent the OP may sign, no school is going to access his medical records. Further, unless he needs financing from a school, they are not going to pull his credit report. Company schools won't pull his credit report either. And not all schools and companies will want his "hair fibers."

It is obvious that you want to discourage him from trucking. That's fine. But please stop making intentionally misleading statements to do so.

The OP came here for factual information and advice. Your rhetoric does him a disservice.

You're the only Uber driver I know of that wears mini-skirts and fishnet stockings! See, you fill a niche for Uber!
