I drove in California and had a RDWD 55 air conditioner. Roll down windows and do 55.. Or you have the wing windows wide open and send bees into the cab at times. The bumble bees are the scariest. These new drivers think they know what a blow out is on a front tire.. You don't see any trucks out in the farmers field from a blow out any more..

For allof you new guys... It's all about your rpm and your shift timing. Be glad you don't have a super 10 . That transmission was a pile of junk. Most used the jake to slow the engine down so you old shift.. It just takes time to be good at it. Be patient and you will figure it out.

Yes I agree I absolutely despise a super 10, who ever dreamed up that pile of garbage needs to be beaten to within an inch of his life. Splitting every gear I mean WTF?

At the fire station we have an old binder gas motor 5 speed/2 speed rear axle. One older guy told me you had to slam your d*ck in the door before you took off with it.

LOL, in that old White, I was moving a dozer from one job site to another in the forest AND made a wrong turn, went to turn around to back track and the main box went into reverse and wouldn't come out, pulled the floor access cover off and took it out of reverse by hand, there wasn't going to be any road service where I was stuck, LOL.

Tube tires.... enough said. I remember reading a story in the local paper of a guy in a tire repair shop that got killed when the tire he was inflating exploded. You think tires go out with a "bang" today? Back then if a car was driving next to a tire that blew they were likely to be injured or worse.

Most of the deaths and bad injuries were from the lock ring coming off the rim.. At 70 lbs, that ring would hurl a 16 lb bowling ball over the Empire State Building, or a old ( the big one) Chevy impala 20 ft. A tire company did a little testing.. And to you? Upper body and heads. Then there were the widow make rims.. The rim split in the middle, with a lip. Of about 1/4 inch holding the two pieces together. As for the trucker. Your going down the freeway, happen to run over a nail and just like you getting a ballon and hitting it with a pin, the tire would instantly go flat. If on the front , you were either making an imediate left or right turn. Now with tubeless unless you rip a big hole in it, it just goes flat.
