You mean new emission trucks lol you forget people go out in the woods and fire up 40 year old trucks lol except brand new stuff (which we dont know if they will break down or not) anything pre 2016 is junk if it has emmisions although i do not suggest buying a old pre 08 volvo with a volvo motor lol weve had bad luck with those older equipment has a high success rate just depends on were it comes from and i agree anything can have a fluke things and have a fail. I suggest spending cash in the beginning and going to a diesel mechanic school. A Cat rebuild kit is 2 to 3 thousand but get a mechinic to do it and its 10k easy heck a shop round here wanted 900 just to put fender mirrors on a truck.
As the leasing company of a pneumatic sand trailer, do I file form 2290 or does that fall on the lessee?
Said it on here before several times over the years a guy needs $20,000-$25,000 that is untouched in the bank for the truck after covering everything else to get started, which is fuel (if independent), tags & insurance. Don't forget household expenses either. Then you'll have people comment of their one off very lucky, miracle type scenario where they started out with nothing but credit cards and debt. Of course most people who try that end up ruined fairly quick. And then you will have the people who say how can anyone have such cash reserves on hand getting started? Never occurred to them money management was the most important skill for success that they need. Could go on and on but it doesn't do any good. A #### fool determined to do something stupid ain't gonna be deterred by logic.
Some updated economic info ... Looking like things are about to get really interesting soon as the debt crisis builds with interest hikes and the business falloff is starting to really snowball. I see the spot market continuing to decline deep below operating costs before it rebounds slowly in 12-18 months +/- Produce season boom will be 25-40% lower rates this year I'd predict. If course i hope none of this happens and things get booming again!! Unfortunately the economic indicators are looking very, very bad. .
