Thanksgiving weekend I bobtailed an oilfied winch tractor from Canada to Denver.

I needed to use a washroom and the nearest thing to come up was the POE at the Montana/Wyoming border.

I followed an empty reefer to the scale. The sign said "COME INSIDE".

I parked and went inside and noticed 4 DOT types all with truckers in front of them so I quickly went to the washroom and left.

The sign never said that I had to talk, just come inside and I did.

A. You are required to stop anytime you see a regulatory sign (black letters on a white background) instructing you to stop or an officer has directed you to stop. Pre-pass vehicles which receive an in-cab green light may continue, providing they are not hauling livestock or do not have an oversize or overweight load. Example of POE signage:

All commercial Vehicles

Transport operators

Livestock haulers, and

Deliveries into Wyoming

*All must stop at the Port of Entry.

Can you explain the difference between "All Commercial Vehicles" and a "Transport Operator"? Not trying to be a jack wagon, really want to understand the difference.

Because in the old days, they used to have a hassle of collecting fuel taxes with trucks passing through.

They also act as an evidence gatherer for other states when those states check your logbook. Des Moines Iowa calls Wyoming to verify what time you cleared the port of entry to match times in your logbook.
