Then why do they change things in the 80's to CDL if they not going to have it a standard listing for restrictions. LOL So someone from SC come in Ga and get a ticket for driving a truck with Airbrakes but in SC legal to hahaha. Basic what it can happen if the right cop comes along

well on my license it states what the restriction is for the letter so if i drive across the border to GA i wont get the Z ticket because i have the airbrakes lol. im just saying the examiner should go by the book and not by guess work.

What if you bring your trk/trailer combo to a different testing station, show them what you have and ask if thethey can restest you to remove the z or whatever?
I git lost in all that jibberjabber that you guys posted... it's confusing!
    Good luck!

Actually, if you go to GA with a trailer equipped with air brakes, you WILL get a ticket because according to GA DOT a Z restriction means you are not permitted to operate trailers with air brakes..

But then in TX, the Z restriction reads "Applicable vehicle devices", which I will assume pertains to things like air brakes...

And in Maryland, a Z restriction is for "Organ donor, Hearing/Speech Impaired"

In NY, a Z restriction is for the Use of a "Wheel Spinner--The driver is allowed to have a knob installed on the steering wheel because of a physical condition"

In NV, the z restriction applies to motorcycle operators--"A Class M driver’s license with a Z restriction does not authorize the operation of any other motor vehicle."

In WY, a Z restriction means the license holder must submit a Driver Medical Evaluation form, completed by a physician or medical specialist, every year.

That's plenty. lol I say just go back with this list and say WTF!!! Take it off!

they put the definition on the back of the license next to the letter so they cant say that in GA lol as im 5 miles away from the line next to Augusta GA. So yeah and out of the 5 or 6 testing stations the next test available is in the next 3 months. You have to understand this is a business not just "trying to get the license" i have to work, i took the test i passed and obtained the license. well like i said im going to work. i have to or lose my insurance, my authority, my contract and then well we can say i might lose some some more stuff. ill just drive the same truck they tested me in until i get an answer

after a short phone call and a trip to the DMV the restriction was taken off. there is no such thing in the CDL book as a "mini fifth wheel" so now im legal lol so to speak

A "Z" Restriction prevents one from operating an air brakes vehicle.
