I was told by my immigration attorney and by my uncle who is a US citizen that is an option in the long term....i wonder thoughI really would love to move to Montana, near Great Falls or Thompson Falls and buy a small ranch or Hobby Farm where i can run my business and enjoy life all at the same time.
Starting my fleet, some questions for you guys :)

Its not as easy as you all think to drive on the left hand side of the road, If I am tired or distracted I still walk to the drivers door to get in the truck when im the passenger
and I feel more comfortable in the hammer lane in my car!
If JJ reads this then I know he is going to use it as an excuse to be in the Hammer lane a lot -
Can't blame the guy for coming over this way. They blacks got control and stole everything from the whites and what they couldn't steal they burned. Of course this was because the whites came and conquered the blacks in the first place. But that would be too cool to be a white guy from Africa coming over here and seeing the faces of these color-minded libs when you say you are African-American!

Honestly just start out with one truck and work up from there. Get the grasp of things in Canada first.

It only takes about 15 minutes to get the hang of wrong-side driving, of course no issues with the controls on a murdercicle in my case (vacation in UK). Easier when there's at least some traffic around you or at least some road signs as a reminder. I can neither confirm nor deny how entering a UK roundabout with a right turn tends to accelerate the learning process. Rumor has it was a rural spot with no traffic and still involved a sharp crease in the seat and cold sweats for a few seconds.

There is always loads of HAY out of the Regina, SK area going into the states.. I know a lot of guys pulling step decks that seem to be doing okay hauling hay down to the states and getting good freight going back up that pays real well. I even know some guys just bounce back empty to get that good paying freight if the weather is bad than they don't mess with the hay but after you do a few loads of that hay than it's no big deal and you can make it work well as they will take that hay usually as soon as you get it there during daylight hours, some will take it off as soon as you get there. of course hauling hay you are limited on your travel times but a lot of guys like that hay to get them back down in the states to get the good freight cuz not everyone like to run up in that area

I to am from South Africa.
As luck would have it I too have some trucks paid for and some money saved up.
I was in the US June and July on vacation with my family.
I had a look round to see what sort of opportunities there are in trucking.
The main issue I see with OTR for someone with Wildwestlog's experience is that the skills needed to operate in the "Wild West" Africa are not the same as to what is needed in an over regulated North American environment.
The entrepreneurial drive and ability to adapt that is needed to succeed in Africa means you probably have what it takes but its application is probably completely different.
I would not go out and buy 5 trucks off the bat.
You would probably do better buying into or buying out a small operating outfit and working alongside them for a year or two getting the lay of the land.
Another thing thing.
If you have the cash to buys 5 trucks then it will be no problem getting in to the US.
If you have $500 000 to invest it is not to hard I have been informed.
Any way I will be following this thread.
I have managed to work my way round the government restrictions and even use them to my advantage up till now but I suspect I to will have to make the move some time in the not to distant future.
