Well actually you do know about harmonics, it is the noise you hear on the CB. That's the issue, the lights lack proper shielding and are actually not acceptable by FCC regs for appliance emissions.

I have a lot of lights here that I have tried out, just messing with things when I am bored and got to tell you the crap out there is amazing and people think price equates to quality.

JW Speaker only brand I know of may meet that.

RL, are those lamps FMVSS/DOT approved (as if from GROTE or other industry catalogs)?

I too have tried out lots of lights, so has most drivers up here. the quality of the lights performance trumps the harmonics. The radio still works fine, I just have to turn it down some, it would be nice if I didn't but not the end of the world either, we do most of our talking on the other radio, just use the cb to find out what channel the other truck is on sometimes and talk to pilot cars.
The cb is more important in the log truck, for some reason most other log truck drivers here will not put the long range radios in. But then lights are not as important in it, because much of the driving, and all of it where the radio is important is pretty low speed and you can't see far anyway. I may just put a set of light force on it to use in the woods, and only use the hid's on the highway.

The dot doesn't approve any light, the manufacturer makes the statement that they are.

    I like speaker's products.

Starmac, one thing that i didn't mention is with his lights, the ballast is the real problem. I had some on a car a while back, got a cheap replacement ballast for it and it was so noisy, my kids knew I was coming home, the noise on the am radio got loud.

    Slowmover1 Thanks this.

It could be, these are 9 inch lights and the ballast is built, not like the headlights on my pickup or a set of lightforce I have with a conversion kit. The lights have to stay, but I may change the beacon, I hate to though, as it is a nice one.

As an aside, I have for years run illegal non dot bright lights on the 4 light system for years, every since I first started running up to Alaska. I have been through numerous inspections in Canada and the lower 48 and never once has the dot mentioned them.
I did take them back out of my log truck and wired all four to work on low and high beam, they just tell me that I have my high beams on, till I show them I don't. lol

starmac, what are the "long range radios" you refer to? Maybe two meters with repeaters?
