I have 48ft steps and 53ft steps and most the time they pay the same or when they see you have more room they keep loading you my 53ft is about 1,400lb heavier so I can't haul 48,000 on my 53ft
Yeah I can do 46500 with my 53 and only haul 1 good paying can (20 ft) when it comes in. Other than that its mostly equipment and machinery. Right now its 3 flatbed trailers for the marines weighing 37500
Yeah Oscar, you're right...it's about useless. Just think of all those times you've pulled up to the dock and with your 53' and had that extra 7' of space unused. It's just worthless to have it...especially when you pull up to the dock and they refuse you at the door because they requested a 53' step and you only have a 48'. Better to have too much, than never enough...
Eaaaaaasy there big fella!!! Not all of us WANT that extra 7 feet followin' us around!! The steady creep from 40 to 42 and then 45 and now 48............cripes do we HAVE to have 53 foot open deck trailers??
For an o/op, get a 53' aluminum step and try to get a low deck height. In my opinion, low deck height and the ability to haul 48K is more important than the extra 5'. But if you can have the extra 5' and the low deck height and be able to haul 48k why not have them all.
Exactly. A lot of our loads are now reaching the 48-52k range. They pay well, but the #### things are heavy.
I have to add that you make the real money when you have a "full load" on the trailer and still have room to add 10' for an extra thousand bucks.
