However significant they might be for grain growers. They are not an emergency item needed to cope with the virus.

But, loads of pigs to slaughter might be.
Those who haul them are exempt anyway. If I am not mistaken.

How about water? Dry and frozen foods, etc. Paper supplies, those seem to be essential in the grand scheme of things.

My daughter shared with me she stopped by our local Costco today and ppl were lined up and wrapped around the building outside.

If destined to disease contention camps or hospitals then most likely yes.

I applaud lifting the HOS for its genuine purpose of helping stressed areas.

I am against using it as a pretense to book more loads in order to make more money.

I am saying this in general terms, not necessarily related to this virus hype. If it is a hype, well find out sooner or later.

Course , you will. Your owner makes more money than you , when you are the one who works .

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts on social media in trucking warning of a collapse. I think car haulers, chemicals (exclude fuel), flatbeds, and dry vans will have it the worst. Much of that business is tied up in manufacturing, construction, consumer spending, oil and gas, and import export international business. Even though so many are staying home and the country is shutting down many operations, people still need stuff. With a reefer, I think this will actually boost reefer demand. With more people stuck at home and such a reduction in restaurant service, there will be a greater demand for fresh grocery items. Dry vans are getting a boost right now to restock from the panic, but I think it will be short lived. I’ve read that we can expect this to last into June and maybe July. I’m cautious, but I’m not buying in to the fear right now.

Maybe initially. It won't be like everybody's sitting and watch reefers having the time of their lives either. Some of them will go and buy reefers. As a matter of fact, I spoke with the Utility dealer who sold me my dry van a few weeks ago. He said, I could swap the dry van -as down payment - for a brand new within a week. I've had not bad last few weeks with a dry van...so I did not rush.
The law of connected vessels applies here too.

I’m sure some will. However, jumping into a segment with no prior knowledge of markets won’t help you any. Reefer has multiple factors that keep people out. The cost alone keeps many away. It isn’t cheap pulling reefer. It would be like me going out and buying an RGN. I wouldn’t be very successful.
