I average 1250-1600 a month in tolls, total across 3 trucks. It’s the IL and IN tollway that hit me the most.

This week was too stressful. One of my guys overslept four times in one week, missing four appointments, which resulted in two late fees and two missed pick ups. My other guy, I got him his load home, easy load, short miles, delivers at 0200 today, he thought it delivered at 1400, I think that BS, but whatever. Then freight sucked here in Arkansas, couldn’t find anything remotely good, I finally get a good one, multi stop, ugly load but great pay on it, they called me to cancel it late Friday. I had to scramble to find something and got one to MN, not great but not a terrible load and there’s good options up there. I understand that every once in a while you oversleep, but that many times in one week is ridiculous.

How are you going to handle the oversleeping guy?

Gave him a warning for now. I told him if that happens again, I can’t keep you. That was too much.

Your drivers are pulling flatbeds? Those are daytime appointments in my experience. So driver a. shouldn't have much interruption in his sleep day to day, why's he so tired? and b. I would be inclined to believe that the other guy made an honest mistake about the 0200/1400 appointment mixup.

reefer loads. Sleeping beauty has had issues before. If it’s before 0600 he has a hard time with it.

most deliveries are 0200-0800. They’re not running nights for the most part. Deliver early, get empty, reload, and deliver the next day same window, is pretty typical.

Push hard to find replacement/s and fire him ASAP. Is he the same guy who trashed your reefer?

No. He does a good job, just every once in awhile he goes on a streak like this. I think his problem is he plays on his phone too much and does let go to bed like he’s supposed to. I’ve experienced much worse when I was a dispatcher at trucking companies. What you see there is much worse.
