delivered in laredo this morning. Got a msg to call the office as soon as I was empty, so I call and told I have a random drug test. Great.
Go meet the guy and take the test, done about 10am and start my break. get load assignment about noon and told load is ready and waiting.

I get another call about 2pm. Shannon tells me that it was supposed to be a breathalyzer test, not drug screen. I call the guy back and get done about 3pm.
They switch me to compliance .... I have to log on duty not driving from 10 until 3. WTF!!! Now I have to wait till aftre midnight to roll.

    KMac and nascarchuck Thank this.

While I like the ladies in Compliance (and I really do, no sarcasm at all), I firmly believe if it were up to them, there would be no drive time ever, cuz we would all be too busy being on duty with other things to waste time with driving.

We've had more than normal positive results from drivers in the field (mainly alcohol), so safety is spot checking more drivers to 'prove' to any govt agency (and pending lawsuits) that Stevens is proactive in identifying drivers under the influence.
There is more random testing here on the yard as well.
As for compliance, DOT requires you to be on duty not driving from the point you're notified until the test is complete. In your case, Klegg, they screwed up and ordered the wrong test, so you have to be on duty all that time because the original test wasn't complete.
(good thing you didn't celebrate passing the drug test by having a beer! :biggrin_2552:)

Happy to say Student is doing very well. I didn't let him drive at all the first day so he could finish a 34 and get on the electronic logs right away, but since them he has been doing most of the driving, driving and shifting well, was floating before we left the yard, learning the QC very well, backed three times with little problem, understands the dynamics, will he getting his first mountain tomorrow... not bad for three days.
