Left the lightning capital only to be hit in eastern WA! Dang it boy, you’re hard on stuff! Hope they get things sorted for you. Hang in there!

I doubt that truck will ever be right, again. The techs are chasing and endless stream of issues and are going to keep throwing parts at a dead end. I don’t know how many modules are in trucks, these days. But, they and the CANBUS network won’t handle any surge of voltage like that. It’s why it’s always recommended to have a whole house surge protection system in place, to protect all the sensitive electronics in all one’s household items. Trucks don’t have such a system. I’m guessing, that truck is done.

Couple dozers got hit at a mine. They burnt to the ground. Heard it on a safety bulletin a few years ago.

I’m hoping that I’ll get lucky since it’s looking like the trailer got the direct hit. They also said that the only fuse that blew was for the abs..

Between that and the fact everything else seemed fine afterwards I’m going to try and stay positive.

All else fails I’ll advertise it on TTR for sale..

I’ll tell you what, the lightning here scared the crap out of me. The first few strikes I saw were like thin needles coming straight down. Didn’t look anything like the earth shaking ones we get in Florida.

I have new respect for it now, no longer will I be out by the pool during these storms.

I had 2 in my last year in the shop. 1 Volvo and 1 Cascadia. The Cascadia was about 27000$ in parts, the Volvo totaled.

the truck will have baby carbon arcs in every part and subsystem... may take a week a month or more before each one goes bad... think 1 power plug goes bad, next week dome light. Head light, break light... just a never-ending list of things...

Remember if it went in thru the pigtail it had to go thru the fuss box to get to the ABS module so every light, plug, wire is suspect

Worked on a western star that got hit by lighting. CB antenna looked like a banana peel. Everything from ECMs to sensors to light bulbs were messed up on that poor thing.

Maybe something eventually starts an uncontrollable fire and I’m not there in time to call the fire department…
