Really China, Obama, Churchill and Williams?

three completely separate characters, I don’t think Obama qualifies as one and Churchill had a habit of taking naps in the middle of the day and would not get out of bed until long after 8 am. He also held meetings while he was in bed. FDR commented on how much of a pain in the ****** Churchill was, keeping him up all night talking about war crap.

    who is Robbie Williams?

I run mostly nights and really don’t see many reefers on the road, probably because they’re standing in line at some food warehouse waiting for their turn to pay the lumper :)

Personally i think guys who haul oversize are smarter. We usually make more money, we have incredible problem solving abilities. We usually sleep every night.
I do forget what my wife is doing day to day, but she says if I would give her a truck number I would remember that also... true story.
And we can usually BS our way around a traffic stop. What power line officer.... No sir its legal to do a shoo fly backwards in Louisiana.
    Point made.

Stop order drives some of it, but it's mostly just being unwilling to take the time to do it right. They're never legally secured, always loaded too high (were talking consistently over 15' with Big 3 loads), usually well overlength because they leave the back bottom sticking out. It's just hacks who think they're the Cat's ### because they're fast. It's disgusting.

From personal experience, as well as experience with the half-dozen other guys I know who are former truckers and are now engineers, the SMARTEST guys in the trucking industry are the ones who leave well before they end up online, casting aspersions about the supposedly lower intelligence of others in the field.......

BTW, how many of you can figure out axle weights with a load using just the bill of lading, a contractors' tape measure and a calculator? If so, please, list which TYPE of trucking you are in. Mine was dry van.....

    Rideandrepair and 201 Thank this.

Who needs a tape measure and a calculator? I routinely load anywhere from 6 to 9 mixed units and balance the axles within 500 lb all the time. That also means configuring the load to avoid having to reload units for axle weight problems on split loads .
