Who’s to say that it wasn’t done before all this crazy emissions and carb rules. He’s got an 08 that was manufactured in 07 more than likely.

My Truck is a “ glider now” as well and I’m in California they can eat it with their emissions.

    Bakerman Thanks this.

2007 engines needed to have the DPF anyways. 2006 emission year engines were the last EGR only engines.

Yep. True. I’m just saying over all. Who’s to ever know what he’s done to the truck?

No skin off my nose if he does put in a older engine.
But he should know all facts.

    Who will know..........???
    Maybe nobody will ever know.
Maybe he will get stopped like a driver was years ago and the engine was checked all over to see if it was compliant.(said driver posted this on Hank's truck forum with pictures, iirc it was in Nevada or Utah)
Also he can never go to a dealer with that engine.

    His choice.

If you are in California and running a motor that should not be in your truck be careful.
I’ve seen CARB set up at the scales and checking trucks. Don’t want to know what the fine will be.

Who goes to the dealer anyway? Unless it’s to buy oem parts or get warranty work done. Going to a dealer will only make you go broke.
he can take it to millions of other independent shops who will do a better job for cheaper. I can go on and on about dealers. A reliable motor such as a cat like that won’t need to go in for anything major.

Then you have a 2000-2004 motor with PM filter and that’s legal until 2021.

You only go to the dealer for work for two reasons anyway, A, you have factory warranty, or b, you're looking to get raped.
