a drug testing o/o "consortium"? is this something you have to pay to be a part of? If so, f all that. DOT wants to mandate it, they can go through the trouble of picking who and when. An o/o has more important expenses to worry about.

DOT law specifies that all motor carriers must have a drug testing program. Joining a consortium will satisfy that requirement. Paying for it as just a required cost of doing business.

I am not considering getting my own authority. not interested in the headache. If I was, I wouldn't be asking about the consortium here. I'd know the answer because I'd have looked it up and gotten it from a legitimate source. I'm not an idiot, thank you very much, and if I ever did decide to go o/o I'd do a fine job of it. You don't have a choice in the matter if you got a truck payment. But I'd rather go to bed at night instead of crunching numbers until I'm blue in the face.

I think it's a crock that an o/o has to pay to be in the pee pee lotto. It is still my opinion that if the DOT wants it, they can pull the names out of the hat. and guess what, it's not incorrect because it's an OPINION, genius.

Thank you for answering my question, Auto, and thank you for being an a/h Meltom

As F$%^ed up as the DOT is, you want them to decide? I think I pay $100 or so a year and don't have to worry about it, let someone deal with all the legal issues. They file with the DOT for me to keep me complient.

Your statement about having a truck payment and not having a choice is quite incorrect. I've paid for a few trucks and trailers, and have not once, paid for a drug test.
