I love my TND 510. I've had it for maybe 2 weeks now. It's a huge upgrade over the little Garmin GPS I had. I'm still learning all the little quirks with it and all but over all the only complaint I have right now is it's not very loud. If I have the radio on or am slowing down with the jake on, I don't hear "samantha". lol

I am curious about how the updates work. I updated it to with my computer but noticed it doesn't show all of this major road work around here....Hutchinson, KS. They are expanding K-61 from Hutch to McPherson and it shows you out in a field basically. Also, while going south, towards Wichita, from the East side of Hutch, everyone takes Yoder Road from US 50 to K 96. It doesn't recognize Yoder Road. It's a main road....really a major, heavily traveled road. The 510 shows it as a just a county road and tries to route me off and away from it.

An easy comparison in the TND 510 & 710 is right at the Rand McNally web site ... randmcnally.com

    Rand McNally TND 510

    Rand McNally TND710

You'll also see a wide variety of places to order from on-line too.

as far as you continue to fight for the product I get why as you helped to try to make it better. Rand McNally released what anywhere else is called a Beta Version and charges full price. The speaker issue is fine I got home to local T/S and the Owner was there took it laughed and through it away, but did replace it and I stayed w/ the 510. The reason I hate it is the fact it's essentially still in beta testing, but the fact it is using user generated feedback to allow all to make the product better and suggest things makes it POTENTIALLY better than the rest can ever hope in becoming (IPhone apps vs. Android Apps in the past exmp.)

And to further answer your question at leAst once a week I post things about typically tech products and history says I average about 75%'posotive 15% in different (category for 510), and 10% negative

My husband was heading to Jackson, MS, I believe he was coming from Oxford, MS. TND 710 routed him in such a way that he was on 7 heading toward Coffeeville. Before he got to Coffeeville it wanted him to use Co Rd 436 and then get back onto 7 after passing Coffeeville! Using Co Rd 436 put him in the tight residential area! This is not the first time something has happened like this. I don't know the specifics of the other times but thought you would want to know about this one.

I purchased a GPS 710 unit for my husband to use in his diesel truck. This is a unit expecially for Diesel trucks and I also purchased the extended warrenty. This unit was purchased in July 2011. In August I called and spoke to the support team because the unit would not charge and stay on, they told us it was the cords and sent out all new cords....Now its the end of August and the unit has quit again, the representive I spoke to,,,,Andrew is telling me that I cant have my money back, I cant have a new replacement unit and that I will be getting an email as to when I can send the unit in for repairs. My unit is covered by 30 days only for money back he is saying...I explained that I felt that this was not fair as my orginial call with the problem was well within the thirty day period of purchase....He told me too bad my only choice is to have the unit repaired. I find this extremely unfair, this unit is not even two months old ... barely a month old...I have called before about the problem and they threw a fix that wasnt even correct at me. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he told me no and wouldnt allow me to speak to one. At this point I am very unhappy, I want my money back. Five hundred dollars is alot of money to me and this unit has not worked correctly since its purchase. The company is not giving me any options even though the problems were reported before their thirty day warrenty expired.

well add me to the seemilngly growing fraternity of those who have issues with the power cord/usb connector.

this unit was supposed to be designed for heavy trucks, which don't ride good to start with, and on some VERY rough roads that are the US interstate system. why such a respected company as RM would build something that has complete junk for hardware is beyond me, especially considering the intial cost of the unit. you'd think for what it costs, the hardware would be top notch and bulletproof, yet mine will not hold power now after only 3 months. 3 MONTHS. I even put a thick strip of rubber weatherstripping on the bottom of the unit reading the problems others had with the cord/connector (which I only saw AFTER I bought it) to try and ensure it got jiggled and shook the least amount possible and to lessen the shock on roads like 95 and 85 in places, which I run regularly.

while I love the features and the software, to have such an expensive unit that is touted as being the class of it's peers, to have such poor quality hardware, and especially at this price point, is completely unacceptable.
